I wouldn't wish these things on anyone, they're awful! When I have a good group to try them with, I think I'll definitely have to experiment with them. I'm excited at the prospect of mushrooms and LSD, but I'm an overly anxious person and am convinced that I'll have a bad trip. I can also say with absolute certainty that marijuana doesn't do anything for these. This usually makes them a bit shorter and less intense than usual for me, but it isn't very consistent. Another tactic to try is downing a Red Bull the second you feel pain coming on. Still expensive, but absolutely worth it as these abort my headaches in ten to twenty minutes about 75% of the time. ![]() These are meant to be used in an epipen like device, but you can dismantle them and self administer 1/4 to 1/3 of a dose so that your money goes much farther. The only worthwhile ones are the injections. These are absurdly expensive and taste like death as the medicine drips down your throat. Then they will prescribe you the nasal spray. These do not kick in fast enough to help. It is expensive, but well worth it! If your doctors are anything like mine, when you ask about it they will prescribe you pills. I've read most of this thread and haven't seen you mention Imitrex at all. In high school when I had class at the same time every day and was on a strict schedule, I could essentially set a clock by the timing of my headaches. Each week I get a headache Monday morning, have pain free days on Tuesday and Wednesday, then get at least two severe headaches per day on Thursday and Friday. As you have mentioned, they seem to be related to the hypothalamus, which is the origin of our "internal clock." This cluster seems to be more random than most for me, but I have noticed one major pattern. My headaches themselves are also very predictable. I read stories of people who have gone from episodic to chronic and hope like hell that never fucking happens to me. I am hoping to get some relief soon, as I have in the past also gotten brief clusters during late winter. I'm now a junior in college and started a cluster this year at the very end of August and am still getting them now. After a month or so of relief, I'm greeted by a nasty cluster to start the school year. This year it lasted from around mid May until mid July. I typically start a cluster in the beginning of the summer that lasts a month or two. Unlike yours, mine are extremely predictable. Easily the worst pain I have ever experienced! Their severity has been ramping up with each successive cluster and has reached a point in which when I get a headache, I am completely useless for at least an hour without Imitrex. I got my first cluster headaches when I was 14 or 15 and have suffered from them ever since. I'm a long time reddit lurker, but had to make an account for this!
